It wasn’t much of a game to anyone but Seahawks fans but America watched the Super Bowl anyway.
According to a Fox press release, 111.5 million people tuned in to watch Seattle thump the Denver Broncos 43-8 in a game that, believe it or not, was not as competitive as even the lopsided final score indicated. The Seahawks scored on a safety with 12 seconds elapsed in the game and never relinquished the lead.
It was the largest audience on average for any televised program in U. S. history. The previous record came two years ago in Super Bowl XLVI between the Giants and the Patriots on NBC. That network will get the first crack at topping Fox record on February 1, 2015 when it broadcasts Super Bowl XLIX from Glendale, Arizona.
