Team Sweden played one of its best games of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament with Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Slovenia, ensuring Capitals forwards Nicklas Backstrom and Marcus Johansson will move on to the semifinals in pursuit of a gold medal.

Carl Hagelin scored two goals, Loui Eriksson, Daniel Sedin and Alex Steen each picked up one, and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 19 shots he faced for the Swedes, who arrived in Sochi as one of the pre-tournament favorites.

The Swedes await the winner of Wednesday’s game between the Russians and Finns.
