Hours before Robert Griffin III and the Redskins open the NFL season on Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, prospects from the Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers will face off at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
This will be the sixth time that rookies from the Capitals and Flyers will meet in a preseason setting and the game will be the open to the public and free of charge. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The matchup against the Flyers will mark the end to the Capitals’ annual rookie camp which the club announced Wednesday will begin on Thursday, Sept. 5. All on-ice workouts at KCI are open to the public and free of charge as well.
Select participants in rookie camp will be invited to join veteran players at the team’s main training camp which begins on Thursday, Sept. 12 (first on-ice sessions).
