HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Taran Buie scored 24 points and Hofstra defeated William & Mary 70-59 Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association action.

The Pride (5-11, 2-1) never trailed and led 27-17 lead at the break.

Buie hit 8 of 17 shots from the field, including 3 treys in 9 attempts. He was 5 for 6 at the foul line. Stevie Mejia scored 10 of his 14 points at the stripe. David Imes added 10 points.

Brandon Britt led William & Mary (7-8, 1-3) with 21 points, shooting 8 for 16 from the floor. Marcus Thornton's 17 points included 9 at the stripe in 11 attempts. Kyle Gaillard was the third Tribe player in double figures with 10.

Hofstra hit 47.9 percent (23 of 48) from the field. The Tribe was 19 for 55 (34.5 percent).

Hofstra's bench outscored the Tribe's 10-2, and the Pride had a 17-10 advantage in second-chance points.
