It's the annual Shaka Smart carousel of possibilities, when schools with coaching vacancies show interest in the Virginia Commonwealth head coach and speculation resurfaces as to whether or not he would leave Richmond.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, both Marquette and Wake Forest have "reached out and expressed interest" in Smart as they search for the next head of their respective programs.

Smart won 26 games at VCU this season before being eliminated in the Round of 64 by Stephen F. Austin.

A native of Wisconsin, Smart could also be enticed by the money Marquette is willing to offer. According to Goodman, it could be in excess of the $3 million that was due to former coach Buzz Williams, who bolted to take the same job at Virginia Tech.

Wake Forest would put Smart in one of the country's best conference, but fighting an uphill battle against a top of the conference that has only gotten stronger with the onset of realignment.
