The coaches have voted. The Associated Press voters have, well, voted with results released on Thursday. Here's where the locals rank in the preseason polls:

VCU: AP (14), USA Today Coaches Poll (15) - Props to the Rams for being ranked in either preseason poll for the first time. Shaka Smart' finished last season ranked 23rd and return two preseason first-team conference selections in swingman Treveon Graham and forward Juvonte Reddic. Unranked LaSalle and Saint Louis, the two other programs projected to battle VCU for the A-10 title, also received votes in the AP poll.

Virginia: AP (24), USAT Coaches (25) - According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, the Cavaliers are ranked in the AP preseason poll for the first time since the 2001-02 season. All-American candidate Joe Harris and three other returning starters has something to do with the current interest. Lots in the Commonwealth will be interested on Nov. 12 when Virginia hosts VCU.

Georgetown: In what's become an annual tradition the Hoyas were not ranked in either poll, though John Thompson III's squad received enough voting love to finish 35th. More interesting in the AP poll, Georgetown came up in fourth among Big East teams, finishing behind Marquette (17), Creighton (NR/27) and Villanova (NR/33). The Big East coaches voted Georgetown second behind Marquette in the conference preseason poll.
