The news does not come as a surprise, but it could make an impact when roster decisions are made. Redskins running back Chris Thompson will miss the Monday night game against the Cleveland Browns, Washington announced.

Thompson is locked in a roster crunch at the running back position, and is fighting rookies Lache Seastrunk and Silas Redd for the spot(s) available behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. An ankle injury suffered in the first preseason game against New England will force Thompson to the bench tonight.

Beyond Thompson, Mike Caussin, Darryl Sharpton and Jason Hatcher are expected to sit out against Cleveland. Again, no big surprises, but Hatcher warmed up before the game on the field with Stephen Bowen. Both of the big defensive linemen were working hard, and Hatcher looked strong and fit. Jarvis Jenkins will start in Hatcher's spot at defensive end.
