Free and loose and with only the future to play for, the Chicago Fire presented a threat to D.C. United’s bid to celebrate a first place finish in the Eastern Conference in front of its fans.
It was a bittersweet start to the week for D.C. United. On Sunday the Black and Red earned its first ever victory in Houston, but suffered the loss of Luis Silva to hamstring injury.
Depleted by injuries and fatigued from a mid-week trip to Jamaica, D.C. United slumbered through the first half in Chicago.
With no Fabian Espindola and down 2-0 in the first half, D.C. United needed someone to step up and be the hero.
